Local Governing Boards
Keystone Academy Trust believes fully in the role governors play in supporting their local school. The governors are involved in monitoring educational outcomes, supporting and challenging school leaders in making sure the school meets its statutory responsibility. A local governing board is made up of parent governors, foundation governors, community governors and staff (teaching and support) governors.
Boards meet five times per year. There are six areas of responsibility for community schools that governors oversee:
- Achievement and standards
- Curriculum and pupil experiences
- Stakeholders
- Safeguarding, attendance, and behaviour
- SEND and disadvantaged pupils
- Premises and IT
For our church schools, there is a seventh area: church school effectiveness. It is expected that each governor carries out three visits per year, visiting schools to speak to children and staff to see for themselves the great work that their school does.
