Westfield Student Wellbeing Champions Gold Award

Oct 23, 2025

Westfield are excited to have received their Student Wellbeing Champions Gold Award.  The LCC Healthy Minds Co-ordinators were very impressed with the speed at which they had fulfilled the necessary criteria and are hoping to be able to offer this scheme to many more schools in the coming year.

This scheme was delivered by a team of 16 Year 5 student’s and aimed to increase the awareness of simple changes all pupils can make to keep themselves mentally healthy and increase their resilience.   By selecting different elements of the resources on offer, all pupils were provided with an opportunity to join the fun at lunchtimes.

For instance, in term 5 the Wellbeing Champions led an assembly to introduce ‘How’s your S.H.E.D?   They explained how our Mental Wellbeing can be strongly influenced by fulfilling our bodies physiological needs, i.e.  S = sleep, H = hydration , E = exercise and D = diet… if your  S.H.E.D. is in order, you will already feel in a better place to tackle any challenges.   They provided cushions and blankets to promote rest/sleep.  They ran a drinks station to provide everyone with an opportunity to increase their hydration (including the Ofsted inspector) and  parachute games reinforced how much fun it can be to exercise with their friends.

Our Wellbeing Champions will now prepare to hand over to some existing Year 4 students, ready for them to build on this success next year!
